Damage Accident Modelling beyond current statistics
The purpose of this workspace is to cover existing gaps in statistics concerning frequencies of serious flooding accidents as well as their impact on novel Risk Control Options (RCOs). This will be achieved by the developed rapid assessment tool for modelling grounding and collision accidents of relevancy and by establishing the macro-relation between crashworthiness and design. The objectives of this workspace are:
- Define accidental scenarios that may lead to serious flooding beyond those considered by current statistics in IMO regulations;
- Enhance the speed of modelling flooding accidents with the aim to complement existing damage statistics with reference to RoPax and cruise ships;
- Develop state-of-the-art rapid assessment modelling tools and methods to determine the influence of new RCOs, on serious flooding such as crashworthiness, crisis management and control.
